As Women’s Month kicks off, award-winning singer Nomfundo Moh Ngcobo has courageously shared her experiences as a victim of cyber bullying, particularly targeting her dress code. Despite the negativity, Ngcobo’s resilience and talent have earned her a spot in Apple Music’s prestigious Alpha campaign, spotlighting influential women in music.

Speaking at a press conference in Fourways, hosted by the esteemed actress and media personality Nandi Madida, Ngcobo expressed her pride in being featured alongside DJ and producer Uncle Waffles, neo-R&B songstress Elaine, and pop R&B doyenne Nanette. These Alpha females are celebrated as history makers and game changers, redefining the essence of women’s power in the music industry.

“Being an artist is beautiful, but being a female artist is mighty,” Ngcobo declared. “Not everyone has the ability to break chains meant to limit their creativity. Only a superhuman can conquer such. It is an honour to be featured on Apple Music’s Alpha campaign. We are about to break more chains through our music.”

According to Sunday World, the singer opened up about the challenges she has faced in the industry, including cyber bullying. She revealed that her fashion choices have often been a target for online trolls, primarily due to her petite frame.

“I used to cry every day, every time I saw a negative comment on social media,” Ngcobo confessed. “My mother would tell me not to mind that one or two comments. She would tell me to focus on the ones that are showing me love. To delete the negative comments and show the people that are showing me love back.”

Her mother’s advice helped Ngcobo stay grounded and recognise that not everyone would appreciate her. This wisdom has fortified her self-belief and allowed her to focus on her craft and the love from her supporters.

Ngcobo’s inclusion in the Alpha campaign is a testament to her strength and talent. As she continues to break barriers and inspire others, her journey serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and might of women in the music industry.
