South African singer Nhlanhla Mafu recently celebrated a major milestone — her son Luvuyo’s 13th birthday! The proud mom shared a sweet and joyful video on social media of herself dancing with her son to mark the special day. The moment was filled with laughter, love, and celebration as the young teen officially entered his teenage years — on Friday the 13th, no less!
Nhlanhla also gave fans a peek at her son’s birthday cake. It was a bright lime green colour and featured a fun game controller design with the words: “Level 13 Unlocked” — perfect for the gamer spirit of a growing teen.
In a heartfelt birthday message, Nhlanhla praised her son with traditional names and a touching blessing: “LEVEL 13 OFFICIALLY UNLOCKED. Radebe, Bhungane, Mthimkhulu, Makhulukhulu, Zikode, Mashwabada inkomo nempondo zayo, Izinzipho zimnyama ngokughwayana, Mangelengele, Mahlub’ amhlophe.”
She continued: “Today, my son @luvuyonciza turns 13 – on Friday the 13th! What a divine, magical and powerful entrance into your teenage years. Mihle imisebenzi ka Thixo. I pray you continue to grow into your greatness with respect, thoughtfulness, and with the light and love you carry as a young man. I’m so, so proud of you.”
She ended with a beautiful blessing in Zulu, translated as: “As you step into this new season of your life, may God (UMvelingqangi) light your path and fill you with wisdom and love. Happy birthday, my boy. You are chosen, you are covered, you are deeply loved.”
Luvuyo is the younger sibling of Ciza, the rising music star and son of Nhlanhla and music producer TK Nciza. In May, Ciza opened up to Sunday World about growing up with famous parents and how their public divorce affected him. He said the experience pushed him to always aim for excellence.
“You want your parents together, but sometimes life has other plans,” he shared. Despite the challenges, Ciza is making a name for himself in the music industry as both a singer and a DJ. “I use music to give people inspiration and healing,” he said.
