The highly anticipated fifth season of The Real Housewives of Durban is set to bring fresh energy as Lo Sithole, Ayanda Mthembu, and Kwanele Kubheka join the cast. The trio will make their debut on March 28 on Showmax, alongside returning stars Nonku Williams, JoJo Robinson, Angel Ndlela, and Sorisha Naidoo.

With diverse backgrounds and unique personalities, the newcomers are ready to shake things up and make their mark on the hit reality TV show.

At 40 years old, Lo Sithole is a businesswoman and co-owner of an industrial training centre in Pinetown. She is also married to lead pastor Sahluko Sithole of Discovery Church, making her the first pastor’s wife on RHOD.

Sithole revealed that she had been approached to join previous seasons but felt the timing wasn’t right. “I was approached years ago to join the previous seasons, but God had not approved of me to be on screen at the time, hence I had to turn down the offers,” she explained. “For this season, He [God] confirmed that my time is now.”

Despite stepping into the limelight, Sithole remains grounded. “The fame aspect of it has not started yet. I’ve not received any attention [from viewers] as yet, but I plan to remain calm and collected at all times,” she said.

She also emphasised her desire to build strong relationships with her co-stars. “I am an authentic person. I do not mind sharing my life and all that happens in it. The only concern would be my ability to protect my kids from critics – that’s the only reservation I have.”

Ayanda Mthembu, 36, an optometrist and mother of three, is equally excited about joining the show. “I have a lot of anxiety, but I trust that my true authentic self will shine through,” she shared.

Mthembu admitted that while the public attention may be overwhelming, she feels supported by her loved ones. “Luckily, I have a huge support system that consists of family, who always keep me grounded. I’m well aware there might be repercussions, but I have no reservations at all.”

On set, Mthembu found the experience surprisingly enjoyable. “It was a very positive environment, contrary to popular belief. I enjoyed my time shooting. My career is all about changing people’s lives, especially children through eye care, so I hope this platform will allow me to do exactly that but on a bigger scale.”

With strong personalities, ambition, and a commitment to authenticity, Sithole and Mthembu are ready to make their mark on The Real Housewives of Durban. Fans can expect drama, sisterhood, and personal growth as these newcomers step into the world of reality TV.
