South African actress Natasha Thahane has opened up about a deeply painful period in her life following the loss of two close family members just days apart. The actress took to Instagram to share an emotional message, giving fans a glimpse into the heartbreak her family is currently facing.
In her post, Natasha revealed that her family suffered a double loss in the same week. She wrote, “It has been an incredibly difficult time for our family. On Sunday, we lost my uncle. Just a few days later, on Wednesday, we lost my grandmother too.” The suddenness of the losses has left her and her loved ones struggling to process everything.
Natasha shared a touching and personal memory of her final moments with her grandmother. She explained that on the day her grandmother passed away, she was sitting with her while braiding her hair. “That Wednesday, I was sitting with her, braiding my hair. She asked me not to do single braids but straight back cornrows because they’re quicker. I listened, as I always did. Even in that moment, she was still guiding me, still being herself.”
Even as the family was preparing for her uncle’s funeral, her grandmother remained calm and composed. Natasha said her grandmother spoke openly about her own funeral wishes. “While I was busy helping with the arrangements for my uncle’s funeral, she spoke calmly about what she wanted for her funeral.” Although Natasha and her hairdresser tried to stop her from talking about it, she continued.
The actress described how they talked and laughed together, and how her grandmother seemed perfectly fine. “We talked. We laughed. She was FINE!” She added that her grandmother waited for family members to return and for her hair to be finished before everything suddenly changed. “And then everything happened so fast. She passed away in our hands.”
Natasha ended her tribute with a heartfelt goodbye, writing, “Lala Ntombi Endala. Thank you for the wisdom, the love, and the lessons you gave so freely.” She also shared a cherished memory from a recent family trip. “In July, we travelled to Thailand, a dream made possible by the Garnier team. What a beautiful time we had. I take peace in knowing that she is now resting.” Overwhelmed by grief, she added, “They both did me dirty. It all hasn’t sunk. Lord, please give us strength.”
Following her post, Natasha received an outpouring of love and support from fans and fellow celebrities. Media personality Yolanda Vilakazi commented, “Condolences Natasha. Praying for you & your family.” Millicent Mashile wrote, “Oh Natasha, askies Sthandwa. May God comfort you & the family during this difficult time.” Actress Innocent Sadiki shared, “Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Askies my sis.” Actress Keke Mputhi added, “Mama, my sincerest condolences beautiful. May they shine a light that’s bright and overflowing of blessings and abundance over you on the other side.”
The messages reflect the deep support surrounding Natasha as she mourns this painful loss.
