Actress, singer and podcaster Nandi Madida recently shared an inspiring reflection on her career that began 22 years ago. She posted a throwback video of herself as a 15-year-old TV presenter in 2004 and opened up about her journey from being a young girl with big dreams to achieving the success she has today.
She wrote, “My brother @hastings_moeng sent this to me… and I guess this is what ‘overnight success’ really looks like. I began my journey on a children’s TV show at just 15 years old, a young girl from Durban with big dreams. Still in high school, but already certain that if I stayed the course, those dreams would one day become reality. At the time, I was often bullied for being on TV and for being a high achiever. But none of that deterred me. In fact, it prepared me for the real world. I remember thinking: ‘Unhappy people often try to make others unhappy.’ That truth helped me move through life with so much more grace. 22 years later… those goals have come to life. I share this to remind the next generation: Nothing is handed to you. Every dream worth chasing requires: Discipline. Perseverance. And an unwavering belief in the vision placed in your heart. There are no shortcuts. Only the courage to keep going, even when the road is long. So if there’s something you truly want… Work for it. You are capable. And it is possible.”
Her followers loved the post, including her celebrity friends who flooded the comments section. Minnie Dlamini wrote, “This is when we knew we could!! Love you my sis!!! My first role model.” Tbo Touch also shared his admiration, saying, “A star is born not made. Queen Madida, I keep telling em’ that none of us are invincible but very and I mean very few of us are irreplaceable!!!”
Nandi didn’t stop there. She also announced exciting news about her podcast, The Motherhood Network, which is making waves this year. She shared, “We’ve got BIG news! The Motherhood Network has been featured on the @ApplePodcasts Best So Far list for 2025! We’re honoured to be recognised among the most inspiring, fresh, and powerful voices of the year. Thank you to every mama who’s listened, shared, cried, and laughed with us. This is just the beginning.”
Nandi Madida’s story is a true example of hard work and perseverance paying off. From being a 15-year-old girl on a children’s TV show to becoming a respected entertainer and podcast host, she continues to inspire the next generation to believe in their dreams and work for them.
