South African rapper and reality TV star Nadia Nakai has opened up about her disappointment after being left out of the upcoming season of Young, Famous & African. Nadia, who played a big role in the previous season, shared her feelings in a TikTok video posted on 22 June 2025.
In the post, she hinted that the show might have dropped her because she was too real for the drama-filled series. She wrote in the caption: “When YFA didn’t ask you to come back for the new season cos they’d rather have drama than realness.

Nadia was part of the main cast alongside African stars like Diamond Platnumz, Zari Hassan, Swanky Jerry, Annie Idibia, Fantana, Quinton Masina, Kayleigh Schwark, and Kefilwe Mabote. During her time on the show, she made headlines for her bold personality and her explosive argument with Annie.
In the last season, Nadia gained praise from fans for standing her ground and calling out Annie’s behaviour. She didn’t shy away from addressing issues in the group and made it clear that Annie’s actions shouldn’t be excused. In one emotional moment on the show, Nadia said:
“Annie is being destructive on me, and it’s hurting my feelings. It feels like people don’t understand that there’s something going on with me just because I’m not acting out, and not causing damage, and not being dramatic. I rock up, and I put up a smile on my face and act like I’m okay when I’m not.”
Her honesty struck a chord with many viewers, but it may have also caused tension behind the scenes. Some fans believe this could be the reason she wasn’t asked to return.
The news sparked mixed reactions on social media. Here’s what some users had to say:
@lulaland22: “Honestly she was annoying. She was acting like she’s God and she definitely was unlikable.”
@Bunny1415874: “Yeah, she was dividing the group. Why did they keep Fantana though? She brings absolutely nothing to the show.”
@She_Royall: “I guess they don’t want to be held accountable. I came to love her more through the show. It’s how real & honest she was that got me. And her not nursing Annie’s feelings last season was the last straw for them I guess. Go BRAGGA! Unstoppabl
@Pule_Ale: “She was irritating and the only thing she did was constantly attack Annie. Good riddance.”
While some believe Nadia brought unnecessary drama, others feel her honesty and confidence made her one of the most relatable stars on the show. Whether she returns in the future or not, one thing’s for sure — Nadia Nakai made her mark on Young, Famous & African.
