Nadia Nakai On Music With Diamond: “When You Not Trying To Sleep With Someone It Becomes Tricky”. Rapper Nadia Nakai’s dating history shows just how much she likes to keep it in the music industry and not just in South Ah but beyond borders too.
From rapper in her early career days to one of the Major League DJs to American rapper Vic Mensa and almost Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platinumz and now her current beau AKA, she sure loves them musically gifted. If you’ve watched Netflix’s proudly African Original reality series, ‘Young, Famous & African’ then you already know how one of the first storylines was about Khanyi Mbau trying to set up Nadia Nakai with Diamond Platinumz. Whilst the relationship never happened as Nadia was still with Vic Mensa, it left fans curious if anything ever happened behind the scenes with the two superstars and now she’s shedding more light into that.
In our interview with Nadia, we asked her about whether she had any feeling for Diamond which she laughed off saying she just wanted to make music with him.
“Not at all, Diamond is very sweet but not at all. I just wanted to make music with him and I didn’t want to… I think this is what a lot of women deal with. When you’re not trying to sleep with anybody but you also don’t want to offend that artist. So it’s hard to find that middle ground of like, ‘Oh damn, I don’t wanna sleep with you, I don’t wanna go out with you but I don’t want to offend you cause then I won’t be able to work with you’. And sometimes when you say ‘no’ that can be closed off. [It’s like] I don’t wanna work with you anymore if you’re not not gonna give me….”
“That was the tricky thing with him. I respected him so much and I wanted to be able to work with him but it became a bit tricky where I was just like, ‘I’m really not about it and I’m trying to entertain the situation but I’m not trying to take it there… we ended up not making music but I mean it is what it is,” Nadia explained.
