After several shows being canceled on Mzansi Magic, the channel is set to bring fresh drama to viewers with the debut of a new series titled iThonga, which will premiere on Monday, March 3, at 20:30 on DStv Channel 161. This highly anticipated show features a powerhouse cast, including Bonko Khoza, Ayanda Borotho, Noluthando Ngema, Siphosethu Mabaso, and Nelisiwe Sibiya.
Bonko Khoza, known for his incredible acting range, takes on the challenging role of twin brothers in the drama. This marks the second time Khoza will portray a twin character, having previously stunned audiences with his performance on Red Ink in 2024. He’s excited for viewers to experience iThonga, sharing, “It’s an authentic South African story rooted in the beautiful IsiZulu culture and one of the freshest narratives to hit our screens. Mzansi, you don’t want to miss this!”
IThonga is set in the picturesque KwaZulu-Natal and is filled with gripping elements of betrayal, construction mafias, and an unbreakable bond between twin brothers, Banele and Sanele. As their lives become increasingly intertwined, the series asks a thought-provoking question: “If twins share a soul, where does one end and the other begin?”
The drama focuses on the deep and mystical connection between the twins and the lengths they will go to protect each other from harmful forces. Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at Mzansi Magic, describes iThonga as a game-changer, stating, “This series focuses on the mystical and unshakable bond between twins and the lengths they will go to, to protect each other’s legacy against any negative forces at play. It’s a powerful blend of culture, family and the unseen forces that bind twins together!”
With its captivating storyline and stellar cast, iThonga is poised to be a must-watch drama for Mzansi Magic viewers. Don’t miss the premiere on March 3 at 20:30 on DStv Channel 161!
