Former artist manager and music executive Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi (34) has been granted bail after turning himself in to authorities. Baloyi, who previously managed renowned rapper Kwesta, appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court today, facing a charge of rape. The arrest follows allegations made by a former Rhythm City actress, who claims that Nota raped her at his Johannesburg North home last month.

Baloyi handed himself over to the police on Friday and spent the weekend behind bars before being released on R5,000 bail today. According to ZiMoja, he was seen sitting quietly in the dock, his face partially concealed by a mask, awaiting his bail hearing, which took place this afternoon.

Following his release, Nota expressed gratitude on social media. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he posted, “Thank you Lord… Thank you all for the prayers & support. I’ve been granted bail. I will prove my innocence and I will comply with all the conditions placed on me by the Randburg Magistrate’s Court 2 today. My nightmare is over!” As part of his bail conditions, Baloyi is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim.

The case has drawn significant attention, especially given Nota’s history in the entertainment industry. The alleged victim, an actress and singer, claims that the music executive raped her, while Baloyi denies the allegations, asserting that their sexual encounter was consensual. He further claims that the actress tried to blackmail him into promoting her music.

Baloyi, who made headlines in 2022 for his brief marriage and subsequent separation from singer Berita, is due back in court on November 9, where the case will continue to unfold.

Thank you Lord… Thank you all for the prayers & support. I’ve been granted bail. I will prove my innocences & I will comply with all the conditions placed on me by the Randburg Magistrate Court 2, today. My nightmare is over!✊🏿
