In a heartfelt display of maturity and respect, Mpumelelo Mseleku, son of renowned polygamist Musa Mseleku, extended warm congratulations and well wishes to his ex-girlfriend Vuyokazi Nciweni following her recent marriage.
Vuyokazi, who shares two children with Mpumelelo, took to social media on Sunday to share the joyous news of her lobola ceremony, captioning the images with “a promise kept.” The announcement came after the couple parted ways earlier this year.
Reacting to the news, Mpumelelo told TshisaLIVE, “I’m happy for her. May God be with her. God is good. God loves his children. He saw what she wanted and blessed her with marriage.”
In a recent episode of the family’s reality show, Izingane Zes’thembu, Mpumelelo’s current girlfriend, Tirelo, asked Vuyokazi if she would have stayed in the relationship had Mpumelelo kept his promise to make her his first wife. Vuyokazi responded affirmatively, hinting at what might have been.
Currently, Mpumelelo is in a relationship with Tirelo, with whom he shares a one-year-old baby. Embracing his heritage, Mpumelelo is candid about his journey in navigating polygamy, a path influenced by his father’s example.
“I got an opportunity to showcase what I do. How to structure polygamy and make people understand you don’t start polygamy when you are old. You have to start it now and grow with it to understand the dynamics. It’s not forced. It’s something I was raised in. People are failing to understand that,” he explained.
Learning from his father, who successfully manages relationships with four wives, Mpumelelo feels prepared to handle his own family dynamics. “What I learned from my father is to always be truthful, humble and respectful, and know how to apologize. In Zulu, we have a saying that a person does what they witnessed from their father when growing up. It’s like someone who grows up in a family where they have a taxi business. A person who grows up in such a home would never turn down that business.”
