Social media influencer and entertainment commentator Musa Khawula is facing yet another defamation lawsuit, this time from businessman Ze Nxumalo. Earlier this month, Khawula accused Nxumalo of cheating on his wife, former Miss South Africa, Dr. Tamaryn Green, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
On 12 October, Khawula allegedly posted a photo of Tamaryn with the caption: “Dr. Tamaryn Green – Nxumalo with a child whilst her husband Ze Nxumalo is cheating on her.” He followed up with further claims, calling Nxumalo a fraudster and alleging that he and his friends sent fake e-wallets to silence him.
According to City Press, through his attorneys, Nxumalo has sent Khawula a letter of demand, instructing him to retract his statements and issue an apology. The letter warns that failure to comply could lead to a crimen injuria charge being opened against Khawula.
“You were purposefully misguiding the public by stating that Mr. Nxumalo has had multiple extra-marital affairs,” reads the letter, adding that legal action will be taken if Khawula does not retract his statements within two days.
Khawula, who has a history of defamation issues, was jailed for contempt of court earlier this year after failing to retract defamatory statements made against ANC General Secretary Fikile Mbalula’s wife, Nozuko Mbalula. The Johannesburg High Court ruled against Khawula in July for spreading corruption allegations on his social media platforms.
With his history of legal battles and high-profile accusations, Khawula could once again find himself in hot water if he does not comply with the demands from Nxumalo’s legal team.
