South African music star Moonchild Sanelly is celebrating a significant career milestone: her songs “Gwara Gwara” and “Big Man” by Self-Esteem featuring her have been featured on the EA Sports FC 25 Soundtrack, one of the biggest platforms for global music exposure in gaming. The video game soundtrack, curated by EA Sports, brings her work to football fans around the world.
Moonchild, whose real name is Sanelisiwe Twisha, shared her excitement about the achievement with Daily Sun. “The first time I heard this was with my global team. I don’t know what the process is, but I know that our music is usually sold before it’s even released,” she explained. “This here, it was a surprise, especially that it was two songs. I knew that it was supposed to be one song.” She added, “I didn’t know the magnitude of the EA Soundtrack, and when I found out, I was amazed.”
Her journey to international success has been intentional. “I’ve been intentional from the time I got into the industry. I’ve always had a strategy,” she shared, recalling how she performed internationally even before her songs “iWalk Ye Phara” and “Makhelwane” became hits. “I knew that after making my name known in Mzansi, I would go back into the world. I’ve always known that my art is not limited to one place.”
Balancing her time between South Africa and Europe, Moonchild values her support system and remains committed to expanding her reach. “I wasn’t born to stay at home; I was born to travel the world,” she said.
Looking ahead, Moonchild has big plans. “I’m going to be dropping my album soon and tickets are available for my tour in the UK next March. I’ll also be releasing a song soon; it’s all about liberation,” she said.
