MNet Responds To Public Backlash Over ‘Love Island SA‘s Lack Of Diversity. Since the much anticipated Mnet original reality show Love Island SA premiered recently, there has been a public outcry from the audience over a number of issue.

First on the list of ‘no, no’s’ committed by the show is the low quality of production. Those who watched the show gave examples from during the show when the cameraman was is shot and the crew was heard laughing in the background between takes.

Another major issue which has caused the streets of twitter to drag the show is because of its lack of diversity. The masses are very disappointed by the shows misrepresentation of Mzansi, as there are only two contestants of colour in the competition.

After the dragging spree had gone into full swing and the community of twitter renamed the show to Love Island Orania, because of its racist undertones, it seems like the channel caught wind of the outcry and have promised to do better.

MNet has since responded to the backlash via twitter stating that they have heard the complaints and are taking them into consideration. The channel apologised for the poor quality of production value and have promised to address all the issues stated by the audience, including the lack of diversity within the cast.

“We didn’t meet our usual standards on both counts and we are working tirelessly to fix things, and deliver the MAGIC you deserve” the channel stated.

The community of twitter further pointed out that this is not the first time that the channel is guilty of misrepresentation, as many other popular shows also lack diversity. However that seems like a topic for another day.

This one seems a bit tricky!!
