Miss South Africa has announced that submissions for the Miss South Africa 2026 competition will open very soon.

The organisation shared the news on its official social media page, revealing that entries will open on 28 April 2026 and close on 17 May 2026. The announcement has already created excitement among pageant fans and hopeful contestants who dream of competing for the national title.

In the post, the page explained that the competition is about more than just beauty and the crown. It also focuses on leadership, empowerment and creating a positive impact in communities.

The organisation wrote: “A new era begins. Miss South Africa 2026 is not just a stage, it’s a movement for leadership, empowerment, and real social impact. Through Empower Youth Africa (EYA), this journey goes beyond the crown, driving meaningful change in communities across the country and continent. Entries for Miss South Africa 2026 will open from 28 April to 17 May 2026. Are you ready to lead, serve, and make an impact? Stay tuned for more information.”

The current titleholder, Qhawekhazi Mazaleni, also shared her excitement about the upcoming submissions. She reflected on her journey as Miss South Africa and described the role as a powerful leadership opportunity.

Qhawekhazi encouraged women who want to make a difference in their communities to consider entering the competition.

She wrote: “This has been one of the most transformative leadership roles I have ever stepped into. It’s allowed me to learn, grow and continuously pour into projects so close to my heart and is continuously laying foundations for the road I’m walking. If you are considering applying and making real impact, please keep an eye out for more information.”

Qhawekhazi is also known for her strong passion for education and literacy. She is a graduate in Speech, Language and Hearing Therapy from Stellenbosch University. She is passionate about bridging gaps in education and helping young learners succeed.

She is also an advocate for literacy and the author of the isiXhosa children’s book Amasele Amdaka. Addressing South Africa’s foundation-phase literacy crisis is part of her mission to help reduce unemployment in the country.

With entries opening later this month, hopeful contestants now have the opportunity to prepare their submissions and possibly follow in Qhawekhazi’s footsteps as the next Miss South Africa.
