So yesterday headlines were that Uzalo is the biggest and most watched soapie in Mzansi and that it’s giving Generations: The Legacy a run for it’s money. Well, not according to creator Mfundi Vundla.

Mfundi had congratulated Uzalo on being the most watched drama in South Africa but, but admits that he’s not moved by their ratings because their not Generations main competitor.

Uzalo has only been around for a few months but has taken over the number one spot from Generations: The Legacy.

The Generations creator told Sowetan: “… We have competition in Ashes to Ashes, if you look at the ratings, you’ll realise that it’s going down. That’s one major challenge we’ve overcome. Uzalo has no competition in its time-slot, we have Ashes to Ashes. Uzalo follows Generations – its rise has from day one been on the momentum created by Generations.”

Uzalo’s executive producer told the paper: “When we conceptualised Uzalo, the vision was to make excellent TV and deliver a programme that South Africa could relate to.”

So what do you say? Generations over Uzalo?
