In a surprising turn of events, popular South African radio personalities, DJ Lamiez Holworthy and television presenter LootLove have allegedly been suspended from Metro FM. The reason for their suspension reportedly stems from their attendance at African National Congress (ANC) rallies, sparking heated discussions online.

The news broke when controversial entertainment blogger Musa Kawula shared the information on X (formerly Twitter). Kawula’s post read: “Metro FM suspends Luthando Shosha, better known as LootLove, and Lamiez Holworthy for attending the ANC rallies.” This revelation left social media users puzzled and divided, as many couldn’t comprehend why the presenters would face such consequences for their political affiliations.

Since joining Metro FM in April, Holworthy and Shosha, better known as LootLove, have quickly become beloved figures on the airwaves. Their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives made them fan favourites, making the news of their suspension all the more shocking. The two women have yet to make any official statements regarding the allegations, leaving fans eagerly waiting for their side of the story.

Social media erupted with opinions on the matter. One user pointed out the seeming inconsistency in Metro FM’s actions, saying, “But it’s unfair, DJ Sbu and other presenters used to campaign for the ANC and they were never suspended.” This sentiment echoed across various platforms, with many questioning the fairness and consistency of the broadcaster’s policies.

Another commenter speculated that there might be more to the story than meets the eye: “I assume that Metro FM is wrong. I can’t see why their attendance or political affiliation would have conflict of interest unless there is more to the story that is not said yet at this stage.”

The controversy has ignited a broader conversation about the intersection of media personalities and political affiliations. While the specifics of Holworthy and LootLove’s suspension remain unclear, the incident highlights the ongoing debate about freedom of expression and the responsibilities of public figures in the media industry.
