Following the heartbreaking loss of legendary kwaito star Sandile “Mapaputsi” Ngwenya, details for his memorial and funeral services have been confirmed. According to TshisaLIVE, the Izinja hitmaker, who passed away on September 5 after battling illness for more than a year, will be honoured in Soweto this week.

Mapaputsi’s manager, Busi Kunene, confirmed the news to TshisaLIVE, stating that fans and loved ones would have the opportunity to pay their final respects at a memorial service on September 12. The service will take place at the Eyethu Shopping Centre in Machaba Drive, Mofolo, from 2 pm to 6 pm.

His funeral service will follow on September 14 at the Dlamini Multipurpose Centre Hall in Koma Street, Dlamini, from 8 am to 11 am. The kwaito icon will then be laid to rest at West Park Cemetery’s Heroes Acre, a resting place reserved for those who have left a significant mark on South Africa’s cultural landscape.
