Meet the Esteemed Judges for the 7th Royalty Soapie Awards

The stage is set for the 7th Royalty Soapie Awards, where South Africa’s top talents in television will be celebrated in a glittering evening of recognition and entertainment. As anticipation builds for the event, scheduled for August 24, 2024, at 8:00 PM at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria, it’s time to meet the esteemed panel of judges who ensure that excellence in the soapie industry is duly recognised.

The Royalty Soapie Awards prides itself on impartiality and fairness, with an independent panel of judges carefully selected to choose the winners. These experts, who bring years of experience in acting, directing, and production, are tasked with highlighting and celebrating the best talent both on-screen and behind the scenes.

Among the judges is Zinzi Zungu, owner of Star Quality Management, who is dedicated to celebrating the remarkable talent that South Africa’s soap operas have to offer. Actress Mimi Mahlasela, with 18 years in the industry, brings her wealth of experience to the panel. Dennis Tsotetsi, a veteran with over 22 years of experience as a producer and director, joins the panel alongside Jabulani Phambona, who has spent 13 years as an actor, film producer, director, and writer.

Tshiamo Modisane, who describes herself as a creative, adds her voice to the judging panel with her background in writing, acting, and producing. Chubeka Nongwana brings valuable insight into how the soapie industry has evolved, particularly in terms of production quality and content. Lastly, Daniel Masetla, an actor, director, and camera operator, completes the panel, offering his expertise in music videos, short films, and cinematography.
