So yesterday on Ekse: Let’s Talk hosted by Masechaba Lekalake with co-hosts Tol Ass Mo and Refilwe Modiselle the topic was based around sexuality and how our society reacts to these interactions.
The guest on the show was author Eusebius McKaiser who has been openly gay from the age of 18.
The main argument was basically set around homosexuality laws and if the are actually being practiced. Regardless of all the laws our society’s are still not comfortable with homosexual relationships and most community’s are still close minded to the idea of a man being with a man or a woman being with a woman.
They took to the streets to find out more about how people feel about homosexuality and if they are accepting of it or against it. The most common response was: “God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Adam or Eve and Eve.” Religion seems to be the quickest and easiest response for people to turn away from homosexuality.
Another question was if people are born homosexual or are they taught it. Eusebius then responded by saying that’s the most common excuse that most homosexual people have, it’s easier to blame it on biology then just being open about your sexuality he says.
At the end of the day it was decided that may be if we stopped labeling people and their relationships life would be so much easier.
This is one sentiment that Masechaba seemed to relate to most as she simply responded by saying:
“Yes, I’ve been with a woman full on and I loved it, but that doesn’t make me lesbian!”
She then continued by saying: “You teach people how to treat you…”
The one point Tol Ass Mo felt that he should put across is that homosexuals are very wealthy. Eusebius responded to that by saying that “the only battle against homophobia is success!”
What are your points on homosexuality? Do you agree with Eusebius, are homosexual people only accepted when they are wealthier and live in wealthy community’s? Are you for it or against it?
