Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize is back and stronger than ever! The well-known businesswoman, philanthropist, and football lover has just taken on a brand-new role — president of Mbabane Highlanders FC.
After facing serious financial troubles with her old club, Royal AM FC, including a R40 million tax debt to SARS (South African Revenue Services), MaMkhize has now started fresh with a new team and a new vision. Earlier this year, Royal AM was put up for sale and kicked out of the Premier Soccer League, but MaMkhize is not letting that stop her.
She has signed a three-year deal to lead Mbabane Highlanders FC and has already made big changes. The club has now been renamed Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club, adding the “AM” from her son Andile Mpisane’s brand. The club’s badge has also been updated — it still has the team’s traditional black and white colours, but now with a touch of gold from Royal AM.
On Sunday, July 13, 2025, MaMkhize shared the exciting news on Instagram. She posted a video showing herself, her sister, her son Andile, his wife Tamia, and other loved ones, all dressed in black, attending the official launch of her new leadership. The family was seen celebrating the new beginning.
In the caption, she proudly wrote: “A new chapter written with purpose, vision and heart. Leading with honour, the Highlanders’ way.” She also added on her Instagram stories: “Bounce back, bounce back.”
