MacG Dropped By Another Major Sponsor. Controversial podcaster MacG has been the centre of attention since they came under fire from the LGBTQI community for making insensitive and homophobic comments.
Since the episode aired, MacG has had multiple sponsors pull out including major brands such as Old Mutual. The Podcast And Chill team released a public apology for their insensitive comments and vowed to use the experience as a teachable moment.
In more recent times, MacG bagged another sponsor for his show from major sneaker outlet the Studio 88 Group. The happiness was short-lived as the sponsor has now pulled out, on grounds of MacG’s insensitivity toward the LGBTQI going against their moral standards.
Studio 88 group marketing manager Loren Lennox told a local publication that they had initially offered MacG and his team a four-episode sponsorship deal after the team approached them looking for a new sponsor.
Lennox claims that MacG had close to 100K subscribers on his channel and his brand aligned with that of the Studio 88 Group.
Although the show did make attempts to rectify the mishap, Studio 88 felt MacG and his team had failed their craft and fans, which is why they chose to distance themselves.
“In light of the above, the Studio 88 Group wish to distance ourselves completely from the aforementioned statements, podcast and its host/(s). We have, therefore, taken the decision to terminate, with immediate effect, any business/sponsorship relationship we may have with MacG,” read the statement.
