Lusanda Mbane Returns To TV With A New Acting Gig. After bowing out of her longtime role on Scandal as Boniswa, TV lovers will be happy to know that Lusanda Mbane will be making her return to the small screen on a brand new show. The actress has reportedly bagged an acting role another e.TV drama and fans are very much anticipating her debut.
Taking to twitter, entertainment broadcast reporter Phil Mphela revealed that Lusanda will be joining e.TV’s Imbewu. Not much details have been shared about the role but apparently Mbane has been having the time of her life on set and is having fun bringing her new role to life.
Mbane’s recently said goodbye to her role as Boniswa on Scandal! in July and according to her, the character was meant to be a supporting role but after giving life to the role, it was then became one of the peoples favourite lead character’s.
“I do not think Boniswa was supposed to stay on the show for so long. Also, when I got the gig, she was a supporting role. Through my performance I was able to be given more storylines and there were always curveballs.” she said.
Lusanda added how playing the same role for 5 years had its challenges but because her character had many layers, she enjoyed the adventure.
“Playing the same character for five years is not easy but because of how her story has changed over the years, it has been a challenge and a great adventure. When I first got the role, Boniswa was supposed to be this sweet, warm, and loving woman. Then about two years in, she was turned into a villain, and I went into a dark place effortlessly in order to bring her to life” she said.
The actress also recently received her flowers for the role after winning the award for Outstanding Lead Actress at this years Royalty Soapie Awards.
Lusanda is not the only actress that will be joining the cast of Imbewu as it was previously reported that Zandi Nhlapo also bagged a new role on the show. After eight years off-screen, the actress took to Instagram to announce that she has joined the e.TV soapie and to play the role of Nompi Khanyeza, who is Fikile’s (Phindile Gwala’s) mother.
“It is with great excitement to announce that I have joined the IMbewu team in my new role as Nompi Khanyeza. Shooting has been the most amazing, fun & interesting journey. I’m loving every minute of it” she wrote.
