Celebrity chef Lorna Maseko is set to transform kitchens across South Africa with her brand-new cooking show, Lorna’s Pantry. The 10-part series will offer practical, budget-friendly cooking solutions, helping families make extraordinary meals from simple pantry staples.
In a time when food prices are soaring, Lorna’s Pantry comes at a crucial moment, providing inspiration for cost-conscious cooking. Each episode will dive into themes like meal prep, quick yet tasty dishes, and clever uses for affordable ingredients.
“I am super excited to executive produce my first production, ‘Lorna’s Pantry’. It is very different from anything I have done before and I could not be more thrilled to share it with you,” Maseko told IOL. “This show is about the basics, saving money, which I know is important for many of us. We will explore everything from starting your vegetable garden—growing your favourite herbs, veggies, and fruits, which can save a lot of money—to creating amazing dishes from scratch using simple, budget-friendly ingredients.”
Maseko’s show will feature easy-to-follow recipes and practical tips that encourage home cooks to make the most of what they have in their pantries. Whether it’s transforming chicken into a variety of dishes or mastering meal prep, the show’s goal is to help viewers create delicious meals without breaking the bank.
“Meal prep does not have to be boring or overwhelming. It is about finding what works for you and turning it into a habit that fuels your goals,” said Maseko. “With a little creativity and planning, you can set yourself up for success—and delicious meals—every day.”
Maseko also hopes to inspire South Africans to get creative in the kitchen while keeping costs manageable. “We all know how financially challenging the start of the year can be, but that does not mean we must compromise on feeding our families delicious, wholesome meals,” she said. “Lorna’s Pantry is here to inspire and guide you through that journey.”
Lorna’s Pantry will air on S3 from Wednesday, January 15, at 6 p.m., offering a fresh, exciting approach to everyday cooking.
