The local film industry is booming, first it was Nomzamo and Maps’ romantic comedy ‘Tell Me Sweet Something’ which broke records with numbers and now the Khanyi Mbau’s ‘Happiness Is A Four Letter Word’ just hit a major milestone.
The film adaptation of Cynthia Jele’s award-winning novel, Happiness Is A Four-Letter Word has reportedly grossed over R10-million at the South African box office. The film’s producer Junaid Ahmed announced on Facebook.
“Happiness is a Four- Letter Word surged past the R10 million mark at the box office yesterday!!!”, he said. The film made R5million in 10 days of being released and Junaid says it’s all thanks to the fans.
It indicates an exciting shift in the SA film landscape and such support strengthens our resolve in making films that resonate with our audiences.
