Award-winning singer and content creator Liyema Pantsi recently sat down for an interview with Metro FM, where she opened up about her music, creative process, and what the future holds.
Liyema shared the musical roots that run deep in her family, revealing, “Everyone in my family can sing, and I got the foundation from my family. I decided when I was 12 that I actually want to sing like the rest of my family, and then I went to Idols and I feel like that was the start of my journey.”
Reflecting on her evolving sound, Liyema explained that she’s still in the process of discovering her unique musical style. “Right now I’m still finding my sound and this whole album is very much an experiment for my sound and my voice and what suits me more. I’m just giving myself a chance to do everything and also the opportunity for people to hear and know what they love and what sound they love. I’m not trying to manage anything, I’m just being versatile.”
Liyema also discussed the special meaning behind her name, which was given to her by her grandmother. She explained, “The name means ‘the home stands.’ I’m the firstborn child, and the home is warm now that I’m there.”
Adding to her growing discography, Liyema recently dropped the music video for her latest track, Amahloni, featuring Enhle Mlambo and Ticozet, on TRACEVIDEO.
With her distinctive style and deep connection to her roots, Liyema’s journey in music is just beginning, and fans are eagerly awaiting the next steps in her career.
