Lira Shares An Update On Her Health. Six months ago, the award winning Afro soul vocalist experienced a stroke that left her with speech challenges. Thankfully, Lira is on her journey to full recovery as she recently shared.
According to a family statement posted on her page back in April, Lira had traveled to Germany for a performance and suffered a stroke whilst there. As a result, her ability to communicate, in particular, her speech has been impacted.
Back in August Lira shared some of the lessons she has learnt in her journey since having a stroke saying, “5 months and still alive and kicking. I’m grateful for the gift of LIFE. I’m making incredible progress and enjoying the much needed break. One lesson I’ve learned is to slow down, smell the roses and savour each moment.” She also shared a video of herself back to doing what she does best, singing. The singer got candid on how speech was still a challenge. “During rehearsal of Return to Me, featuring @mycsoweto. Speech challenging but I can still sing,” she said.
And now six months since the health scare, Lira has shared another update and how far she has come. She took time to thank her supporters for the love and how she is feeling. The singer also took the opportunity to shed light on some facts about aphasia and dysphasia.
“Can you believe it’s been 6 months – how time flies. The second and third frame is where I used to be at! I am feeling like myself yet I’m still on my recovery journey. It’s going to take some time- but it’s reversible! This process has been fascinating for me and although it’s quite challenging at times, I am happy. Just to be alive each day is a blessing. To be among friends and loved ones is a precious gift. Many of you have been rooting for me and your support has meant the world to me! 23 Sep 2022 (The equinox) #LetThereBeLight,” she shared.
