South African singer Lira (Lerato Moipone Molapo) is mourning the passing of her beloved mother, who passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The iconic artist shared the heartbreaking news with her followers on Instagram, accompanied by a powerful tribute to her mom.

In the emotional post, Lira captured a tender moment of herself hugging her mother, captioning it with a simple yet profound message: “M♥️M 🕊️.”

She also shared the birth and death dates of her mother, marking the profound loss: “7 March 1956 to 20 November 2024.”

According to ZiMoja, while the cause of her mother’s death remains private, Lira had previously opened up about her mother’s brave battle with cancer. “Eight months after I had a stroke, my mom was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. She told her story for the first time on 9 August 2023 at a women’s day event,” Lira recalled in a past interview. “This is a woman who is a health fanatic, spends hours at the gym, takes care of herself, and eats well. The cancer was a shock to us. The cancer took away her livelihood. She spent three months in the hospital; she was so sick.”

Lira’s fans and followers have been offering their condolences and support during this deeply painful time, sending love and strength to the singer as she mourns the loss of her mother.
