Lira expressed her excitement about her upcoming performance, emphasizing her readiness to embrace the stage once again: “I am feeling positive. I have been practicing, and I am ready.”

Reflecting on her journey of recovery, Lira shared with ZiMoja Lezinto News how her vocal lessons and singing helped her regain not only her voice but also her ability to speak: “I had to learn to talk again… I speak slower and need to learn to stay calm as stress affects my ability to communicate.”

Despite the challenges she faced, Lira’s determination to return to the spotlight remained unwavering: “I have come to accept that the old Lira is gone… I want people to accept her and welcome the change.”

With the upcoming performance at the Bassline Fest Africa Day on the 25th of March, Lira sees it as an opportunity to introduce the world to the “new Lira”: “I have been getting to know her and feel ready to share her with the public.”

Highlighting the significance of the event, Lira noted the convergence of milestones, including South Africa’s 30 years of democracy and Bassline’s 30th Anniversary: “What makes this performance extra special is that not only are we celebrating 30 years of democracy, but we are also celebrating the new Lira, as well as the Bassline’s 30th Anniversary.”

In preparation for the performance, Lira aims to pull out all the stops, demonstrating her commitment to delivering a memorable show: “I have been practicing to perform as part of my recovery… I have come to accept that the old Lira is gone.”

With her perseverance and determination, Lira’s return to the stage symbolizes not only her personal triumph but also serves as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges.
