Letoya Makhene, best known for her role on Generations: The Legacy , has officially announced her return to the music scene. Reported by Sunday World, The revelation came during an exclusive listening session for her new single, coupled with her signing to the Ntethe Global Effect record label.
The event was a star-studded affair, with the presence of legendary musician Blondie Makhene, Letoya’s father, and the talented musician and dancer Lindo “Tupac” Sithole. Makhene shared that this new chapter in her music career has been a long time coming.
“Previously, my hectic schedule made it impossible for me to dedicate myself to my music fully,” Makhene explained. “This time, with the support of Ntethe Global Effect, I’m ready to dive back in.”
Masechaba Khumalo, a close friend and media personality, played a pivotal role in this comeback by introducing Makhene to Ntethe Global Effect. Founded by award-winning musician and music executive Ntethelelo Mposwa, also known as Ntethe, the multifaceted entertainment company has Universal Music Publishing Group as its publisher.
Makhene disclosed that her introduction to Ntethe Global Effect came at a tumultuous time in her life. “Our journey almost didn’t begin because of the dark place I was in, but Ntethe Global Effect and Masechaba Media have been by my side, soothing me through one of the deepest processes in my life. The healing has been through music.”
Currently, Makhene is navigating a separation from her wife, Lebohang Polumo, after a four-year marriage. The separation has been fraught with allegations of abuse and assault. Despite these challenges, Makhene is focusing on her healing process.
“It’s unfortunate that this is the hole I am in,” Makhene said. “My perpetrator feels like they are not going to stop, which makes complete healing so difficult. I never expected healing to be so challenging. It’s a process; others take years. I cannot say I am there yet.”
Working with Ntethe has been both a blessing and a challenge for Makhene. “As a vocal producer, he has really stretched me beyond my limits,” she admitted.
