The family of gospel music icon Solly Moholo, born Solomon Molokoane, announced his passing on Wednesday evening. The beloved artist had been battling illness since August after collapsing on stage during an album tour in Botswana.

The 65-year-old was hospitalised and placed in ICU, with his family seeking donations for a critical brain surgery that was planned. Moholo, known for his unique sound and style, captured the hearts of many when he rose to fame in the early 2000s.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, the Molokoane family wrote, “Dear Solly Moholo Fans, it is with great sadness that we are informing you on behalf of the Molokoane family, that our beloved legend ‘Solly Moholo’ has sadly passed on. He passed on 2nd October 2024 whilst in hospital.”

The family has requested privacy as they grieve the loss of the gospel legend, with further details about his memorial and funeral to be shared in the coming days on his official pages.
