Legendary Actress Connie Chiume Wins An Award At Jo’burg Film Festival. The actress known for her roles as Mam’ Kete on ETv’s Rhythm City, Mam’ Sonto in Gomora and another role in an international movie, like Black Panther has managed to scoop one more accolade at this past weekend’s film festival .
After a two year break, the Johannesburg Film Festival included films from South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Seoul, Japan, USA to be screened at the festival. The yearly, six day festival is meant to showcase thought- provoking and debate stoking films from around the world.
This year’s fifth festival, not only showcased movies but also honoured thespians who have performed excellently in their respective roles/duties. Connie who won a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards, for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been awarded with an award from ‘Multi Choice’ in collaboration with ‘Jo’burg Film Festival’.
“ Wow! Another one! 😩❤️ I cannot even explain my gratitude South Africa. Huge Thank you to @joburg_film_festival and @multichoice_group for such a prestigious award 🥇,” Chiume wrote.
Johannesburg’s Film festival official Instagram page also gave her an honorary post for her outstanding work in acting. The post read, “ Without wonder and insight, passion ceases to exist. Embedding the true meaning of film and storytelling can only be achieved through consistency, talent and hard work and this is what @conniechiume embodies.”
