Magogo Morake, the beloved mother of internationally acclaimed composer Lebo M, passed away on February 28 at the age of 100. The family has now announced the details of her burial service, which will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Fourways Memorial Chapel.
After the service, Magogo will be laid to rest next to her late husband at Fourways Memorial Cemetery. The Morake family, through spokesperson Simphiwe Majola, shared this information with the public and expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support they’ve received during this incredibly difficult time.
“The burial service to honour the extraordinary life will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 08:00-10:00 at Fourways Memorial Chapel. She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Mr. Morake, at Fourways Memorial Cemetery,” said Majola, as reported by Sunday World. “The Morake family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and comfort during this difficult time. Your kindness and presence, whether in person or in spirit, mean so much as they bid farewell to a cherished matriarch.”
The Morake family had previously shared the heartbreaking news of Magogo’s passing on the morning of February 28. “With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Magogo Nomvula Grissel Morake, the beloved mother of internationally renowned composer and performer Lebo M,” read the statement.
The family further explained how Magogo passed away peacefully after a serene and restful night. “A true matriarch, she was a pillar of love, wisdom, and strength within her family and community. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her,” they added.
