South African YouTuber and media personality Lasizwe Dambuza has shared a heartfelt message with his followers, announcing that he is taking a break from social media to focus on his mental health. The popular content creator posted a video and message explaining that he will be offline for the next couple of weeks and will return in the new year feeling stronger.
Lasizwe shared on his social media, “I checked myself into a mental wellness retreat for the next couple of weeks. I’ve handed over my social media accounts to my management and they will be the ones managing it during my stay here. I’m surrounded by professional help and can’t wait to come home stronger and ready to kick off the new year stronger!”
In the emotional video, Lasizwe opened up honestly about how the year has affected him. He said, “This is me signing out. I have arrived at the mental wellness retreat. I was welcomed by a team of psychologists, psychiatrists and nurses. Basically, they’re going to be taking care of me for the next couple of weeks.” He also explained that he will be missing Christmas, adding, “Meaning I’m going to miss Christmas. I’m not going to be able to wish you guys a Merry Christmas on Christmas because they take away phones.”
Lasizwe went on to explain why he made this important decision. “I’ve decided to do this because this year has been mentally challenging. I’m burnt out. I’m exhausted. I’m depressed. I have anxiety. I’m proud of myself that I’m here,” he said. His honesty touched many fans who praised him for choosing to put his well-being first.
The media personality also used the moment to encourage others to take mental health seriously. “I wish people could take mental health seriously. To you watching this, please find someone in your community, in your family, your friendship to speak to regarding your emotions and how your feeling,” he shared.
Lasizwe ended his message with hope and gratitude, saying, “Every year we’re doing it stronger. I hope this teams helps me to recover so that next year we enter the year strong and healthy. Thank you for the support through the ups and downs. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year she be safe.”
