South African Metro FM radio presenter and DJ Lamiez Holworthy has officially returned to work after spending 20 days on bed rest and recovering from a frightening health scare that left her hospitalised and undergoing emergency surgery.
The DJ recently gave fans a glimpse of her first official gig back, sharing a video of herself performing on stage on her Instagram Story. For Lamiez, returning to the stage was clearly an emotional moment after everything she had been through.
“This was my first official gig back after 20 days on bedrest and hospital and I almost cried.”
Her return to work comes after the media personality spent several weeks taking it easy following a serious health scare.
Last week, Lamiez opened up about the frightening experience that resulted in her being rushed to hospital and undergoing an emergency ovarian cystectomy.
She revealed that she had been attending gigs when she suddenly began feeling nauseous while travelling to her second venue. She vomited and soon found herself screaming in pain.
Lamiez was rushed to hospital, where doctors decided that an emergency operation was necessary because the ovarian cyst had grown too large. During the operation, doctors also discovered additional, smaller cysts.
She was subsequently diagnosed with Endometriosis, adding another unexpected chapter to what had already been an extremely painful experience.
In the caption accompanying the video in which she opened up about her health scare, Lamiez revealed just how close she felt she came to losing her life.
“So the cyst that had now grown bigger than my womb burst on Women’s Day- 7 minutes away from the second venue in Brits.”
Following the ordeal, Lamiez spent 20 days on bed rest, focusing on her recovery and taking things slowly.
@dj_lamiezholworthy After TWENTY days of bed rest and taking it easy (hospital included) I think it’s safe to say I’m back by God’s grace, the love and support from my friends and family and your prayers which I do not take for granted. I wasn’t ready for your testaments under my last post but it warmed my heart that you were all so honest and vulnerable- that I created a safe space for us all to just be,learn, heal and fix each other’s crowns. ❤️ Here’s to working smarter and not harder 🙈 #lamiezholworthy #womenshealth #fyp #ootd ♬ original sound – Caresha
She later took to TikTok, where she shared a stunning look from an event and reflected on finally being back at work.

Her first performance back appears to have been a particularly meaningful milestone, marking the beginning of her return to the work she loves.
After a difficult few weeks, Lamiez is once again behind the decks, but this time with a renewed reminder to prioritise her health while navigating her busy career.
As she prepares to get back into her usual routine, her message remains clear: “Here’s to working smarter and not harder.”
