Radio presenter and DJ Lamiez Holworthy is still soaking in the joy of her wedding day, and she is making sure to give special thanks to the women who stood by her side. Taking to social media, Lamiez shared a heartfelt message dedicated to her bridesmaids, describing them as her “tribe” and a source of strength in her life.
She wrote, “My tribe. Adult relationships are so complex, whether with friends, romantic or even family but I truly have been blessed with the best.
Finding your people-your tribe, low maintenance relationships with like minded people who understand the dynamics of life and how hard it can get to balance it all BUT love you regardless(of your flaws because we ALL have em) but most importantly reciprocate your love and efforts is extremely important.
I am so grateful for these Warriors and bunch of soldiers
I know I can count on even in my sleep. Meet my bridesmaids.”
Among the bridesmaids was her best friend, Lebogang Tlokana, widely known as The Funny Chef. The professional chef has been a close part of Lamiez’s life for years, making her presence on such an important day even more meaningful.
Lamiez and her partner tied the knot on Saturday, 11 April 2026, in the North West. The ceremony was attended by close friends and family, creating an intimate and emotional celebration of love.
Beyond the celebrations, Lamiez also opened up about her cultural background and identity. She shared how important it was for her to honour both sides of her family on her wedding day.
She said, “For someone who grew up in a cross cultured family, raised by my mom whose family is predominantly indian (Muslim, Hindu, Tamil and some Christian) it was extremely important that I embraced both my mom and my biological father who is Tsonga’s cultures.”
The DJ also spoke honestly about her struggles growing up and how it shaped her sense of belonging.
“I struggled with my identity for the longest time- being the only black child in a community that looked and treated me differently- One where I knew I did not belong but my mom? See my mother fought for me- she CHOSE me over and over again even if it meant losing her own family and for that I will forever honour her,” she shared.
Lamiez also reflected on her relationship with her father, who played a special role on her wedding day.
“Then there’s my dad- my dad who got to walk me alongside my mom at my wedding. What a guy- I am so grateful that we get to experience each other’s genuine love now. Now that I am older and wiser – between you and I? I’ve become such a daddy’s girl that it sometimes makes my mom a little jealous (Akere I’m HER baby-her NUNA).”
