South African musician, Lady Du, consistently utilizes her Instagram platform to share advice and knowledge with her extensive fan base. Recently, she addressed a deeply concerning issue – the surge in child suicides. Lady Du took to Twitter to advocate for stricter regulations surrounding the sale of rat poison, a plea triggered by a tragic incident at Tsakane Secondary School, where two students reportedly took their lives using this lethal substance.

Lady Du has been an unwavering advocate for mental health awareness, despite the challenges she has personally faced over the past few years. In her recent online engagement, she passionately underscored the perilous consequences of allowing harmful substances like rat poison to be accessible to minors.

Therefore, in her view, there must be stringent restrictions to prohibit underage children from purchasing such a dangerous poison. Additionally, she implored that schools prioritize mental health awareness among students. She tweeted, “Can we kindly take this rat poison issue seriously? We have a lot of kids committing suicide, it’s scary. Shops should stop selling rat poison to kids. It’s a trend, it’s scary. We need to act now @Lesufi, please. We need more awareness on mental health in schools.”

Additionally, Lady Du’s message struck a chord with her followers, sparking an outpouring of agreement and support in the comment section. Many individuals expressed their sadness and concern over the distressing prevalence of child suicides. One person commented, “It’s honestly sad,” while another shared a heartbreaking personal experience, saying, “My cousin hung himself last Friday. This is very sad.”

Finally, Lady Du’s call for action on the sale of rat poison and her emphasis on the need for greater mental health awareness in schools resonate deeply with those who are increasingly alarmed by the tragic loss of young lives. Her advocacy serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to address these pressing issues. Protecting the well-being of our youth.
