Lady Du On Why She Didn’t Want To Do The Umsembenzi Wethu Song. The ‘Amapiano’ muso recently sat down with the ‘The Episode ZA’ podcast, where she talked about a plethora of things related to music and also why she did not want to do one of her hit songs.

In the interview, the ‘Amapiano’ singer and rapper got to share some of the ins and outs of the ‘Amapiono’ music genre and how she has been navigating it. Talking about why she was not really in support of her music playing on radio and other media platforms and but rather focusing on the younger demographics, school kids and taking mini concerts to schools.

Lady Du explained the reason why she didn’t want to do the ‘Umsebenzi Wethu’ song saying she chose to focus on school pupils for her music. “That’s why I was like let’s leave the radio part. The radio will…they know the kids, let’s focus on the kids. Let’s go the the schools. That’s why my verses are for people eighteen to thirty five. My chorus from eighteen going down. ‘Hamba ngo layini’/ ‘Bang’ biza ngo Cataliya ngiyayi shaya impama’, because I know you will understand what I am saying. The kid won’t understand but they will only understand ‘Hamba ngo layini’ even with ‘Dakiwe’. Because kids will take the chorus to you, you will understand the verse.”

Lady Du also added that since most the songs have catchy lyrics and also tend to grab the attention of young people, it is also imperative that music artists understand that when they want to produce music they should put both adults and kids into consideration so that it is appealing.
