In a night filled with excitement and celebration, South African TV personality Nonkanyiso “LaConco” Conco was honoured at an exclusive nomination party hosted by Brown Sugar in Umhlanga. The event marked LaConco’s first nomination for Best Television Presenter at the prestigious South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), a major milestone in her career.
The atmosphere was electric as friends, fellow actors, and key figures in the entertainment industry gathered to celebrate her achievement. LaConco, who has been in the industry for only three to four years, was deeply moved by the recognition. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, she expressed her gratitude: “I’m truly grateful and humbled by this recognition. I work so hard with my heart and soul. I didn’t know that my hard work would be recognised so soon.”
At a recent SAFTA nominees toast hosted by Netflix, LaConco was reminded of how meaningful this nomination was. “I met a woman who said she has been in the industry for 36 years and this is her first nomination, so that humbled me,” she shared. Reflecting on her journey, she added, “God has done His kindness. I’m not in it to say I’m winning it, but it’s a reminder that God will uphold His children.”
