Great news for fans of South African television — Netflix has officially confirmed that Kings of Joburg is returning for its third season! The streaming platform shared an exciting teaser, giving viewers a taste of what’s coming when the new season premieres on 13 June 2025.
First released in December 2020, Kings of Joburg quickly gained popularity for its thrilling storylines, gripping crime drama, and dark supernatural elements. At the centre of the show is the powerful Masire family, who rule Johannesburg’s criminal underworld. But their reign has never been easy, as they face betrayal, shifting alliances, and a mysterious curse that continues to haunt them.
The late Shona Ferguson, who played the role of Simon Masire, was also the show’s co-creator and one of the main forces behind its success. While his character is no longer part of the story, his legacy continues to live on through the powerful storytelling and complex characters he helped bring to life.
Season 3 brings back some fan-favourite stars including Connie Ferguson, Zolisa Xaluva, and Abdul Khoza, with Thembi Seete and Cindy Mahlangu also returning. The new season also welcomes Maurice Paige and Keenan Arrison, who are expected to stir things up with fresh energy and unexpected plot twists.
This time around, the curse hanging over the Masire family appears to play an even bigger role, as they struggle to maintain control of their empire. The family must deal with growing threats, both from outsiders and from within. Old enemies resurface, including Enyinna Nwigwe’s dangerous character, Aliko Bajo, with whom the Masires have a shaky truce. But as tension builds, that peace could explode into all-out war.
Expect more betrayal, brutal confrontations, and emotional twists as the Masire family fights for survival in the heart of Joburg. If the teaser is anything to go by, Season 3 is set to be the most explosive yet. Make sure to stream Kings of Joburg Season 3 from 13 June 2025, only on Netflix!
