Amapiano producer Kelvin Momo has released a brand-new album titled Thato, following a tough week filled with drama and media speculation. The 29-track project, which dropped on Friday, is named after his real name, Thato Ledwaba, and comes straight from the heart.
Sharing his emotions on Instagram Stories, Kelvin Momo wrote, “It’s not just an album for me—this one hits home. This is the only way I can express my emotions and feelings. And with everyone I worked with on this one, ngiyabonga (thank you).”
The album’s release comes after Kelvin Momo faced backlash for missing two scheduled performances over the previous weekend. His team released a public apology, saying sorry to fans who were left disappointed.
But that wasn’t the only thing making headlines. Kelvin Momo also removed all content related to his upcoming Red Bull Symphonic performance from his Instagram account. This sparked rumours that he might have pulled out of the event, which is set to feature him alongside music director Adam Howard and the Egoli Symphonic Orchestra.
According to The Citizen, their team contacted Red Bull for a comment after Kelvin Momo removed the posts, but no official response was given. Interestingly, after The Citizen’s enquiry was shared with both Kelvin Momo and Red Bull, all of the Red Bull Symphonic posts reappeared on Kelvin Momo’s Instagram.
So, what really happened? It turns out that Kelvin Momo didn’t delete the posts permanently—he simply archived them. Instagram’s archive feature allows users to temporarily hide posts from their feed. They can still see them privately and restore them at any time, which Kelvin Momo did after the media reached out.
Before unarchiving the posts, Kelvin Momo had also posted a cryptic message that said he was choosing himself – hinting at his desire to take care of his mental and emotional health.
With Thato, he opens up emotionally and reminds fans why he remains one of amapiano’s most loved producers.
