South African influencer, author, and reality TV star Kefilwe Mabote recently shared a deeply personal moment with her Instagram followers, revealing a significant step in her spiritual journey. In an Instagram story, Kefilwe posted a video showing her burning Versace clothing, sparking curiosity and confusion among her followers. Many wondered why she chose to destroy the items instead of donating them, prompting Kefilwe to clarify her decision in a heartfelt post.

“I’ve been getting questions about why I chose to burn Versace items instead of giving them away, and I want to take a moment to explain this with care and understanding,” she began. The decision to burn the items, she explained, was rooted in her faith. “The decision came from a place of conviction. According to the Bible, such things are considered ‘accursed’ (see Joshua 7:13 for context),” she wrote. For Kefilwe, the symbolism of the items, particularly the image of Medusa, was spiritually significant.

Medusa, a figure from Greek mythology often depicted with snakes for hair, was seen as a symbol of power that could turn people to stone. Kefilwe explained that as a believer, she could not “serve two masters” and felt it was wrong to pass on items with such spiritual implications. “To give these items away would be to pass on something I no longer stand for, and I can’t, in good conscience, transfer things that I know carry deep spiritual implications,” she wrote.

She also emphasised that her decision was part of a broader journey of spiritual freedom. “The spiritual realm operates on legalities,” she noted, explaining that the things we allow into our lives can sometimes open doors to unseen forces. “These items were open doors, and removing them was part of reclaiming my spiritual freedom.”

Kefilwe’s decision to burn her clothes comes after years of personal reflection and seeking answers to recurring patterns in her life. While she didn’t go into full detail, she promised to share more about her journey in the future. “One day, God willing, I will share more of this journey in detail, but for now, I hope this helps answer your questions with love and understanding,” she said.

This move follows a shift in Kefilwe’s approach to her public persona. Earlier this year, she conducted a closet giveaway, offering luxury items like Mach & Mach shoes, Gucci boots, Prada heels, and Louis Vuitton sneakers to her followers. At the time, she framed the giveaway as a celebration of “new beginnings.” Was this part of her spiritual growth? Kefilwe hasn’t directly addressed this yet, but her actions seem to reflect a deeper, more personal transformation.

In her Instagram bio, Kefilwe has also added her second name—“Kefilwe Faith Mabote”—and made a clear declaration of her faith with “JESUS first. 2 Corinthians 5:17.”
