Katlego Maboe Scores New Television Hosting Gig. Maboe has been chosen as the presenter of South Africa’s own version of ‘Deal or No Deal’ since getting his Expresso job back August 2022, Katlego has been on a roll bagging gig after gig.
Next up was the ‘Tropical Island Of Treasure’ getting his hosting gig back and now he has been revealed as the host of South Africa’s own version of ‘Deal Or No Deal’.
‘Deal or No Deal SA’ is a television game show where contestants take turns opening briefcases that contain monetary prizes, and then deciding whether to accept an offer from the bank or press their luck and keep opening cases. The contestant ultimately has to decide whether they want to take the Banker’s offer of a guaranteed cash prize, or risk it all and continue playing in hopes to get a bigger monetary reward.
Speaking to News 24, SABC head of local content Lala Tuku said, “While we will be using the winning format that has seen Deal or No Deal become a global broadcasting phenomenon, the show will feature new innovations and be distinctively South African.”
“Every day, a contestant will have an opportunity to win up to R250 000. With an electric energy that makes dreams come true in an instant, this is television entertainment at its best,” Tuku added.
On choosing Katlego as the host of the show, Tuku said, “We needed an all-rounded host for this very special show, and we are convinced that he has the requisite flair and finesse, and the generosity of spirit to ensure that Deal or No Deal becomes an essential, not to be missed, part of the daily life of South Africans across the nation.”
The game show is set to air on SABC 1 from the 6th of March at 7:30 pm everyday for half an hour.
