Kairo Forbes, the daughter of renowned DJ Zinhle and the late rapper AKA, has her sights set on the glamorous world of modeling. In a recent interview with Sowetan LIVE, the nine-year-old star shared her aspirations, which seem well within her reach given her recent accolade.
This past weekend, Kairo was named Favourite African Kidfluencer at the prestigious Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, held in California. The award ceremony celebrated young talents who have made significant impacts in their fields, and Kairo’s charm and influence clearly stood out.
On Tuesday evening, an exclusive screening event at Montecasino, north of Johannesburg, saw Kairo presented with her award. The young star beamed with pride as she expressed her gratitude and excitement. “Getting this award feels amazing. It makes me feel happy and grateful,” she said. “I thank God, my family, and everyone who supported me from the beginning. I’m grateful to have all of you in my life.”
Kairo also paid a heartfelt tribute to her late father, AKA, saying, “If daddy was here, he’d say how super proud he is of me and what a good job I’ve done.”
Despite her young age, Kairo is acutely aware of the influence she wields. “It also feels great that I’m a role model to a lot of kids who follow me [on social media]. I hope I can teach them to follow their dreams,” she shared.
With a passion for fashion and makeup, Kairo dreams of one day stepping onto the runway as a professional model. “I want to be a model one day. I love fashion and makeup a lot, so I hope I become one,” she added, her eyes sparkling with ambition.
