When it come’s to fake clothing brands we’ve honestly seen it all.
A number of ‘retailers’ are making copies of Cashtime Life’s merchandise and selling it to make a huge some of money from the famous record label’s profits.
The members of Cashtime have come out to express that they’re tired of all the fakes of their signature clothing being sold on each and every corner of Mzansi.
Speaking to Daily Sun the Co-founder Thabiso Khati says: “It’s really sad that we’re a proudly South African small business creating employment for the black youth and then this happens.
“To have these bullies bastardising our brand like this is sickening, to say the least.”
Thabiso adds that he would really appreciate it if the government works on their police and structures to help protect small businesses and entrepreneurs against the people that are out there making counterfeits of their merchandise.
The sad thing about this is that fans are being tricked into ‘supporting’ Cashtime by purchasing all this merchandise. One even tweeted K.O wearing a Cashtime Life cap and the rapper had to sadly reply to the fan expressing that the cap is fake.
“But bro, that’s a fake cap tho.”
The team first learnt of the fake merchandise last year and they share that since then the brands revenue has taken quite the plunge.
K.O also shared how one can tell the fake and the real deal apart: “Our range is limited to T-shirts and tracksuits. We only use a special fabric, whereas the fakes are made of cotton and other fabrics.
“Our tracksuits’ animal print designs were specially developed by us – the pirates have not been able to copy the design. They just plaster the Cashtime Life logo on wool or cotton tracksuits.”
He also adds that the originals are only available at Shesha and Fashion Kraal stores, and Raw Addiction at the Plaza in Benoni.
