In a dramatic turn of events, EFF leader Julius Malema has stepped in to aid controversial rapper Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, known by his stage name Shebeshxt, after a harrowing car accident. The collision, which occurred on the R37 Road near the Smelters Mine in Limpopo on Saturday night, tragically claimed the life of Shebeshxt’s nine-year-old daughter.
Sunday World reports that Shebeshxt was admitted to the Polokwane Provincial Hospital with serious injuries. Tidimalo Chuene, spokesperson for the Limpopo transport department, confirmed that the accident was reported just after 10 PM and that the young girl likely died at the scene.
Witnesses and sources revealed a troubling account of Shebeshxt’s initial treatment at the public hospital. Without medical aid, the rapper reportedly languished for hours without proper care. The situation grew dire enough that Julius Malema was contacted. Taking swift action, Malema insisted that Shebeshxt be transferred to the Netcare Pholoso Hospital, a private healthcare facility in Polokwane, where he could receive immediate and adequate medical attention.
Malema has since taken on the responsibility of covering Shebeshxt’s mounting medical expenses, which are reportedly running into the hundreds of thousands. This act of support has been widely discussed on social media, with videos circulating that show the aftermath of the crash. One particularly heartbreaking video shows the covered body of Shebeshxt’s daughter next to the severely damaged Volkswagen Polo. Another clip shows the injured rapper receiving initial treatment from emergency medical services on the scene.
