Reality TV star Jojo Robinson has been candidly sharing her cosmetic surgery journey with followers, revealing her decision to dissolve the facial fillers she’s used for over seven years and undergo a deep plane facelift. In a recent video, Jojo explained her decision, saying, “I made the call that I no longer want filler in my face because I’m finding that in certain lighting you can actually see it.”
Jojo, who has long been a fan of fillers, admitted that after years of using them, she felt it was time for a “reset.” She explained, “The more I added, the less I was getting to the result I really wanted, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t stop time. Aging is inevitable. And filler could only take me so far.”
The reality star acknowledged that dissolving the fillers was a painful process, but she was committed to making it happen. “I was scared…I couldn’t imagine my face without it, but I knew it had to be done,” she said. Jojo also addressed the stigma around facelifts, clarifying that she didn’t get one because she “needed it,” but because she “wanted it.” For Jojo, aging in the public eye comes with added pressure to look her best now, not in the years to come.
Jojo also revealed that her inspiration for the facelift came from pop icon Christina Aguilera, adding, “I used Christina Aguilera as my inspiration for my doctor.”
In a follow-up post, Jojo shared that she chose to undergo the surgery under “twilight anesthesia,” which allowed her to be awake during the procedure. She explained the reasoning behind this decision, saying, “It’s a 7-hour procedure, and I was worried about being under general anesthesia for that long. It’s taxing on the body, and I personally battle after general anesthesia.” Not only did the twilight anesthesia make her feel better, but it also cost her R113k, which was significantly less than the R180k she would have spent on general anesthesia.
Jojo is now in the recovery phase, which includes a few weeks of wearing a headband and undergoing hyperbaric treatments to reduce swelling. Despite some initial swelling and bruising, Jojo is confident in her decision, saying, “I can’t say enough how amazing @drpaulmcgarr is. He has created my entire body for me, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my face.”
In her latest update, Jojo shared a picture of herself at day two of recovery, showing off her new jawline. “Only day 2 of recovery, and I’m already seeing the jawline of my dreams,” she wrote. “From here, I will still swell up more (my eyes are doing their own thing at this point. lol) and bruising is starting to set in, but luckily, I’m well aware of the recovery journey.”
Jojo also humorously added, “Might as well delete my face app…gonna give Hollywood 4.” It’s clear that Jojo is embracing the recovery process, and her followers are eager to see the final results.
