Jojo Robinson Opens Up About Surgery Happening Soon

Reality TV star Jojo Robinson from The Real Housewives of Durban has opened up about the surgery she will soon undergo to remove skin cancer. The reality TV star shared photos of her back on social media before the operation, showing what her tattoo currently looks like before parts of it are removed during the procedure.

Jojo, who was diagnosed with invasive skin cancer, explained that doctors will remove several cancerous areas on her back during the surgery. She told her followers that there are currently six skin cancer spots that need to be removed.

She wrote on her social media: “The last day my back tattoo will look like this. Tomorrow is surgery day where we remove the multiple skin cancers on my back, currently 6 all together. Unfortunately, with skin cancer like mine, large areas are cut out, which in general would be okay, but for someone that has spent over 30 + hours of pain and time to build up a back piece, it’s a double blow.”

The star explained that large parts of her tattoo will be removed during the surgery. She admitted that she does not know what her back will look like afterward, but she is trying to stay positive.

“Large sections of the tattoo will be removed and I have no idea what thats going to look like. But as someone told me here on my insta fam, ‘what is the core behind tattoos. Its your story told on the outside’, so essentially this is just the next phase of that story,” she wrote.

Jojo also addressed rumours about tattoos and skin cancer. She made it clear that tattoos do not cause skin cancer.

“I also just want to clear up another thing that’s been currently going around. Skin CANCER is NOT linked to tattoos. It’s genetic (my mom has it and she has NO TATTOOS). It is also from UV exposure and the type of skin I have.”

She explained that the only challenge for someone with tattoos is how surgery can affect the artwork on the skin.

Before the surgery, Jojo shared an emotional goodbye to the tattoo on her back, which was created by tattoo artist Mike Artura. She said the tattoo took many hours to complete and means a lot to her.

“For today I’m just gonna say goodbye to my back that @mike_artura created with me and that we spent hours together on. We’ll fix her up in time. I loved her as she is and I wouldn’t change a thing. I WORE it proudly for the years it looked like this.”

Although she is going through a difficult time, Jojo said she is focusing on removing the cancer and moving forward.

“Life carries on and we deal with these things as they come. Also, I’m sorry I’ve been quiet. I’ve been sad.”
