As the anticipation mounts for the return of “Izingane zeS’thembu” for its second season, in an interview with The Citizen, the creator Portia Hlubi revealed that her team is gearing up to deliver a captivating blend of family dynamics, growth, and unexpected twists.
Derived from the popular reality show “Uthando ne’Sthembu,” which revolves around the Mseleku family, “Izingane zeS’thembu” takes viewers on a journey into the lives of Musa Mseleku’s children.With the spotlight now on the children, the energy is set to be bigger, faster, and more vulnerable than ever before.
Responding to audience feedback from the first season, Hlubi also told The Citizen that herself and her team included have worked tirelessly to strike a balance between showcasing the siblings’ day-to-day lives and delving into deeper, more mature themes. “They wanted to see more of the family… mundane day-to-day things,” Hlubi explained, highlighting the shift in focus for the upcoming season.
Amidst the challenges of coordinating a scattered cast, including new mothers and relocations, the team has crafted a season that delves into the realities of adulthood. From the joys of parenthood to the complexities of independence, viewers can expect a raw and unfiltered portrayal of life’s twists and turns.
As the characters settle into their roles and become more comfortable on camera, Hlubi teases that drama is inevitable. “When a character is comfortable on camera, all I can say is drama, drama, drama,” she remarks, hinting at the rollercoaster of emotions awaiting viewers.
