Isibaya Kills Off Nomzamo Mbatha’s Character! Nomzamo has been juggling work in South Africa and America for the past year but if you’ve been following her journey, it’s clear she’s leaning more towards Hollywood than Egoliwood.
Back in August 2019 after Nomzamo‘s big break into Hollywood when she scored a role in the Coming 2 America sequel, Mzansi Magic spoke out on on what that meant for the actress’s future on Isibaya.
“As local entertainment channels, we are very proud of Nomzamo Mbatha’s international project and achievements to date. She still forms a critical part of the Isibaya cast“, Mzansi Magic Head of Publicity for Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, Philly Kubheka told a local publication.
Now it seems that has since changed as the hit telenovela has reportedly killed Nomzamo’s character according to City Press. The publication reports that Nomzamo was officially released from the show in December. This is after it was no longer viable for both Nomzamo and the production team to work around her schedule since she relocated to America.
Mbatha had reportedly asked to be released from the show in 2018, but the writers and producers wouldn’t let her go because she is the show’s darling.
The funeral of her character Thandeka will be aired on March 9. Nomzamo’s character, Thandeka will die after being attacked by armed criminals alongside her husband Sbu played by Sdumo Mtshali. “Sbu is going to survive [the shooting], but sadly Thandeka is going to die”, a close source to the production told City Press.
It seems there isn’t much left for Nomzamo in Mzansi career wise besides her ambassadorship deals and charity work.
