In a surprising turn of events, Afro-pop singer and songwriter Intaba Yase Dubai has publicly apologised to fellow musician Big Zulu, putting an end to their year-long feud over the hit song “Imali Eningi.” The track, which also featured the late Ricky Rick, had stirred significant controversy in 2022 when Intaba Yase Dubai claimed he hadn’t received any compensation despite its massive success. This is according to ZiMoja.
The artist, whose real name is Lindokuhle Msomi, initially took to social media to express his frustration, accusing Big Zulu’s label, Inkabi Records, of exploiting him. “Imali Eningi has reached over 12 million streams but I’m broke. Never got even R1. It’s so painful to work hard, only to become broke and watch other people benefit from your hard work,” he lamented in a fiery post.
However, in a recent heartfelt statement, Msomi has sought to mend fences, acknowledging Big Zulu’s good intentions and apologizing for his previous outbursts. “I would like to apologise to anyone that I had a beef with. It wasn’t my intention to fight with people or use vulgar language. I’m not proud of what I did and my past experiences have taught me that I cannot walk alone,” he admitted.
Msomi clarified that his grievances were not with Big Zulu or Inkabi Records but with his former label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, and its head, Kgosi Mahumapelo. “Big Zulu had good intentions and I took out my frustrations on him. I regret ever signing a recording deal; I should have stayed at home and released music without any recording deal,” he reflected.
He urged fans and followers to stop speaking ill of Big Zulu, emphasising the importance of moving forward. “It’s time to let bygones be bygones,” he declared.
ZiMoja repored that despite Msomi’s apology, Big Zulu has remained silent, not responding to calls or messages for comment. As the dust settles, fans are left hopeful that this gesture of reconciliation will pave the way for future collaborations and a more harmonious music industry.
